What Is Reseller Web Hosting
What Is Reseller Web Hosting

From shared web hosting to reseller web hosting, there are various types of hosting plans available in the market. The simplest answer to what is reseller web hosting can be explained in the following manner-

When a company uses the resources (bandwidth and hard drive space) of a parent or a well-established web hosting company and sells them to third-party clients under its own name to make residual income. Let’s take an example to understand what is reseller hosting-
Suppose X (parent web hosting company) has a real-estate building (web hosting resources) in the middle of the New York City. Now Y (reseller) rents out this building and converts it into a paying guest facility where working people (third party clients or customers) can live. Y pays some pre-determined amount as rent to X and in return gets the right to convert his building into PG. At the same time, he charges monthly rent from working professionals in such a way that his total income becomes higher than the rent money he pays to X.
This is how reseller web hosting works. If you want to become an entrepreneur and offer hosting services to your clients without investing huge money in data centers, servers and other assets required for web hosting, reseller web hosting is your best bet in the market.

  • Your post is very important to bloggers who wants to be a re-seller for this kind of online endeavor. I think, people who have the knowledge for this thing can start the web hosting totally.

    • Thanks for stopping by. You are 100% right. Bloggers can expand their earning potential with the help of reseller hosting. Many are already doing it.

  • Hi Bhupendra,

I had many doubts about web hosting and it make’s me little confused all the times that why the prices of hosting are varied from web hosting provider to provider. But your article cleared my concepts about how web hosting works. I was thinking to start a new venture and become an entrepreneur but was not able to start due to lack of money and confusions between ideas. But now I got a good idea about web hosting and will do R&D on this on google and will start my venture on web hosting.

Thanks for sharing this insightful info mate.

    • Hi Aditya,

This is exactly why I wrote this post in the first place. Thanks for stopping by. Let me know in case you find any difficulty in understanding reseller web hosting. Best of luck for your new venture. Hope you make it large 🙂

  • Hi Bhupendra. I did not know about these things. It would be great to know more about how you obtain customers for this in future posts. Thank you!

  • I really have no intention on taking up on this. But thanks for the additional knowledge you gave anyway.

  • Competition is pretty stiff in this space. Do you re-sell from different platforms to spread your eggs, or do you find a product that you absolutely love and market it aggressively? Do you use content marketing, FB, PPC?

    Thanks for sharing this!

    • Hey Tan,
Thanks for stopping by. I think you answered your questions yourself. I use different products and platforms. I don’t believe in keeping all the eggs in one basket. I have full faith in content marketing and I believe FB and PPC can do wonders if used rightly.
Let me know if I can be of any help.

    • Competition in this area is definitely stiff, and I honestly wouldn’t really recommend anyone to get into it at this point. If you have a site where people would be potentially interested in hosting (a site about internet marketing or something like that) then promoting it that way is fine, but trying to resell hosting via hosting reviews/etc nowadays is just… well, let’s just say there are much easier ways to make money online 😉

  • It’s a good money maker, yes, but the disadvantage is that your parent web hosting company should provide good service and the plans offered should have a good price! Over pricing and poor customer service will lead to unsatisfied customers.

    • You are right. There’s no point in going with a web hosting service provider that can’t give you a minimum of 99.99% up time guarantee. At the same time, pricing is an important issue as well. You should look for an ideal combination of affordable pricing and great services.

  • Really enjoyed reading about this interesting concept. I will definitely do my own research on this. Haha! 😀

  • This is a great article, Bhupendra.
I once purchased Reseller hosting during the Black Friday period, but I ended up not using it at all. For the entire year, I didn’t even host a single site on the servers and wasted all my money on it.
So, I would recommend anyone to buy it only if you really need it and know everything about Reseller hosting beforehand.

    • You are right. If someone has a decent knowledge about reseller hosting, he can easily make $$$ online. There are various sources available for useful information. I hope this article added value to your time. Let me know if you want to know anything else about reseller hosting.
